Lithium and its compounds are essential to modern industry, supporting rechargeable batteries for mobile devices and electric vehicles. The world holds abundant lithium resources in salt lakes, salars and geothermal brines, together with spodumene ores and produced waters from oil and gas operations.
Most commercial lithium is still recovered the way it was half a century ago: brines are collected and left to evaporate in ponds. Evaporation can take a year or more and leaves large volumes of salt waste, and this slow route is struggling to keep pace with demand.
Direct extraction with selective adsorbents offers a faster, more compact alternative with smaller land footprint and far less waste, and can unlock brine resources too dilute for pond evaporation. Our lithium-selective media are supplied for evaluation against client brine chemistry, with cycle design support for scale-up.
